Zum Wandel des Indienbildes von Karl Marx

  • Christopher Wimmer (Autor/in)

Abstract

Karl Marx dealt with India at various points in his work. There are clear changes in
his approach to the subject matter. I am tracing this development — beginning with
the “Manifesto” to his articles in the New York Daily Tribune and his views on the
Asiatic mode of production — and ask why Marx’s view on India is still relevant
today. Because there is no doubt that the work Marx undertook on India not only
influenced his later theoretical work, but also gave him the opportunity to apply
general principles of his method to the study of complex circumstances prevalent in
different parts of the world.
