Abstract

Broadly speaking the relations between the Russia and India may be divided into three periods. The first of these periods covers the relations of the Czarist Russia with the Mogul India. The second period which began about the middle of the nineteenth century, deals with the relations with the British India, until 1947, and the third period, which may be further divided into sub-sections, deals with the Soviet policies in South Asia up to this day.
