Desiderata für eine Lern- und Übungsgrammatik des Chinesischen als Fremdsprache

Abstract

There is a clear need for learners to be provided with grammar books supporting them in their effort to learn Chinese grammar. After pointing out the differences between linguistic grammars and learning grammars, the author looks at 18 grammar books which in one way or another claim to be written for learners of Chinese. These books are analyzed as to their usability by learners, their overall structure, the terminology used and the consideration of cognitive dispositions of learners. Only a few grammar books can be recommended. A "look over the fence" at two innovative grammar books of German and English as foreign languages may bring some inspiration. In conclusion, ten desirable improvements to learning grammars are listed.
