If you are interested in publishing your monograph, edited volume or book series in gold OA or green OA with HASP, then please send us a book proposal and – if possible – a sample chapter by using our Book Proposal form.

We accept Ph.D. dissertations if they are rated “Summa cum laude” or “Magna cum laude”. When submitting dissertations, please include evaluations by your supervisors and a proof that the imprimatur has been issued.

Please get in touch with us, if you want to talk to us personally.

If you need professional typesetting and layout for your South Asian Studies publication, you can apply for our free „PublishingPlus “ service!

Eligibility requirements are:

  • Researchers from all over the world can apply. The language of publication is usually English or German.
  • Please submit a short curriculum vitae, a synopsis of the proposed publication and either a sample chapter or the full manuscript, together with our book proposal form.
  • Dissertations may be submitted for publication if they have been awarded "summa cum laude" or "magna cum laude". The imprimatur must have been granted by the examiners.

Your application will be submitted to our Advisory Board and, where appropriate, to external reviewers for consideration and decision.

Services We Provide:

  • Each work is published in various digital formats (PDF and HTML) and as a print-on-demand book (hardcover or softcover), which can be purchased from local bookshops and online retailers.
  • In general, we expect you to provide us with a printable PDF of the manuscript. We will be happy to advise you and provide a Word template if necessary. This should be discussed in advance, especially if a printed edition is required. If you need more assistance with typesetting and layout, you may be interested in our "PublishingPlus" service - for works on South Asia only.
  • We will design the cover for your publication based on your suggestions.
  • In order to ensure maximum visibility of all publications and to allow convenient access to both our digital and printed media, we provide each format (PDF, and print-on-demand books) with a unique ISBN. Each book series will also be assigned an ISSN and online publications will receive a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). Bibliographic information and content descriptors (keywords, subjects, etc.) both for the individual book and book chapters or essays within edited volumes will be cataloged to ensure optimum visibility in databases, search engines, and both German and international library catalogs (such as HEIDI/HeiBIB, K10+, KVK, Google Scholar, Open Library, Worldcat). Our books are also listed in national and international trade directories (e.g. Amazon, VLB, and Buchhandel.de) and can be ordered online or through retailers. Additionally, we support authors with proof for the payout of royalties from copyright collectives such as VG Wort.
  • It is also possible to store additional research data permanently on the Heidelberg research repository heiDATA. This can then be directly linked to online-publications on HASP. All research data – i.e. images, videos, audio files, tables, charts etc. – get their own DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and are therefore permanently citable. They are visible and linkable as independent research achievements.
  • Please note that as HASP is an Open Access publisher works published with HASP are subject to a Creative Commons licence (preferably CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). The copyright of the work remains with you as the author, as you are only granting us the non-exclusive right to publish your work.
  • Important: Authors are also responsible for any content that they do not create themselves. This includes, for example, images, videos, data, audio files or graphics. Any material that is not the sole creation of the author may only be used with the consent of the respective rights holder or on the basis of legal permissions. HASP accepts no liability for the use of third party content.
  • If you use Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) in your work, you must describe the use of this tool transparently and in detail in a Methods section. As the author, you are fully responsible for the accuracy of the information provided by the tool and for correctly citing any supporting work (sources) on which this information is based.
  • The publication of your work at HASP as an eBOOK (PDF) is free of charge for you under the conditions described above. For an additional print-on-demand edition, costs are usually incurred (300 € + VAT per edition or volume in the case of multi-volume works, including a printed complimentary copy). However, you can order the printed editions at a reduced price through HASP. The cost of the deposit copies we supply to national and regional libraries is covered by HASP.
